In summer, Grimentz is an ideal base for your Summer holidays with plenty of activities on hand or just simply to relax and soak up the spectacular scenery.
Summer temperatures are warm and the area is renowned for it’s exceptional sunshine record.
The old village centre dating back to the 12th century has numerous sun-darkened granaries and chalet buildings, many with balconies awash with red geraniums in the summer.
The long summer months can be great for simply relaxing or being more energetic enjoying the numerous sports on offer. In July and August in particular, the village is full of atmosphere being busy with sightseers, hillwalkers, and families enjoying their summer holidays.
Within the local area there are over 100 km of signposted hiking paths which can be accessed directly from the village or using the Bendolla gondola. Further afield, there is a massive variety of walks accessed by the
St. Luc Funicular and other ski lifts that open during the summer months in villages such as Zinal.
There is over 350km of trails within the Val d´Anniviers area (bike hire including e-bikes are available at local sports shops). Maps and guides can be obtained at the local tourist offices. For a really serious challenge the race “Le Grand Raid” takes place in August starting in Verbier, finishing in Grimentz – a total of 131km in a day! There are options to start along the way and do shorter versions of the race. www.grand-raid.ch . At St Luc below the funicular, there is afreeride and downhill bike park.
Bungy jumping, Forest Assualt Course, White Water Rafting and Adrenaline Activities
Nearby at Niouc, you can jump of Europe’s Highest Bridge Bungy Jump and do lots of other adrenaline activities. At Vercorin, there is an excellent Forest Adventure assault course along with scooter bikes downhill tracks.
Tennis and Golf
Located in the heart of Grimentz are 2 full size all weather tennis courts available to hire by the hour. There are four golf courses within a 45 minute drive from Grimentz including the Championship Course at Crans sur Sierre where the Swiss Open is played. For those not up for proper golf there is a 18 hole mini golf at Grimentz for all the family to have fun on.
